Hajj is obligatory for every adult, sane, and able Muslim who can afford it physically and financially. One must also have sufficient means to support their family during their absence.

During Ihram, men are forbidden from wearing stitched clothing and using perfume, while women should not cover their faces or hands. Both genders must avoid cutting hair or nails, hunting, or conducting marriage contracts.

While traveling, it is permitted to shorten four-unit prayers to two units and to combine Dhuhr with Asr, and Maghrib with Isha. This is a concession granted by Islam to make travel easier for Muslims.

Ihram is the intention to enter into the state of pilgrimage (Hajj or Umrah), accompanied by the recitation of the Talbiyah and wearing the Ihram garments. It is the first essential step of both Hajj and Umrah.
