Umrah from New Jersey: How to Plan Your Trip

📅 Nov 05, 2026 📖 4 min read

A practical guide for New Jersey families planning Umrah: airports, choosing dates, what to ask an agency, and how to prepare.

Many New Jersey families plan Umrah every year. Here is how to plan your trip, from choosing dates to choosing the right agency.

Which airport?

Most New Jersey pilgrims fly from Newark or JFK, depending on the airline and the group. Before you book, ask where the group departs from and how you can meet them. If your group leaves from JFK, plan your ride early, and allow extra time for traffic and bridge crossings.

When to go

  • School breaks: winter break and spring break suit families.
  • Ramadan: the most rewarding season for many, and the first to fill. Plan as early as you can.
  • Cooler months: easier for seniors and first-timers.

Local agency or online?

Plenty of companies sell Umrah online. Before you pay anyone, ask these questions:

  • What are the exact hotels, and how far is each one from the Haram?
  • What flights and dates are confirmed, and what is the routing?
  • Who leads the group, and do they travel with it the whole time?
  • What is included and not included, and what is the cancellation policy? Get it in writing.
  • Do you have a physical office I can visit? Are you accredited?

Be careful with very cheap offers that won't name the hotel. Our guide on how to choose an Umrah agency has the full list of red flags.
